In yet another powerful victory, Webb City recorded its second shutout of the season. The Cardinals hosted Willard in a 42-0 lead.
Getting off to a strong start, Webb City led 14-0 after the first quarter and doubled their total by the half. Not stopping there, Webb City added on another two touchdowns in the second half.
The Cardinals’ strength came from their impressive running game. Senior Keaton Burroughs carried the ball 13 times for 112 yards and three touchdowns. On just three touches, junior Hunter Vanlue gained 79 yards and a pair of scores.
While the offense proved to be a force to be reckoned with, Webb City’s defense stopped Willard every step of the way. Linebacker Dominick Howard made tackle after tackle, finishing with four solo tackles and five assists. The Cardinals also forced four turnovers, Keeton Marsh reeling in two interceptions and Kolesen Crane picking up two fumbles.
Moving up to 6-0, Webb City currently ranks 19th in the DigitalSports National Football Rankings and first in Missouri. The Cardinals’ next play Neosho High School on October 2. Kickoff is at 7:00pm.
